In an effort to acknowledge strong performance in terms of attendance and lateness along with academic performance, starting on Monday, 11/10/25, our Honor Roll criteria will include a 90%+ attendance and no more than 5 unexcused lateness per 10-week quarter.
While we understand that students need to stay home when sick, or that life sometimes creates complications in terms of punctuality, we also know that Honor Roll is a privileged designation, reserved for exceptional performance.
Students with excused absences and/or lateness will not be penalized, and of course extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration as well.
This change in policy was discussed at our monthly School Leadership Team meeting, faculty meetings, in some senior classes, and with the Principal’s Advisory Council. While there are a range of opinions about how to incentivize timeliness, this plan seemed like a good way to encourage the 60-70 students who are “casually late” EVERY DAY to change their behavior. We will re-assess this policy in January at the end of the semester.
Until then, please make a point to leave home a bit earlier to make it on time to school and make every day count!
